‘Coaches In Kilts’ Skills Camp

Q.1 If I have additional questions or comments, who do I talk to?
A.1 If this FAQ sheet does not answer your questions, please contact Trans-Atlantic at (415) 721 1551 or by email at info@transatlanticsoccer.com

Q.2 Do you have any more camps in this area?
A.2 This depends on the timing during the summer and on the location of your city. Click on Register Online or Camp Locations for registration and scheduling details.

Q.3 What time is drop off and pick up?
A.3 Drop off is 8.30am on the first day of camp, and 8.45am there-after. Pick up is 12 noon/3pm.

Q.4 What does my child need to bring with them to camp?
A.4 Everyday your child needs to bring their Trans-Atlantic soccer ball, snack, lunch (full-day only), plenty of water, sunscreen, a hat if required, and any medication that your child might need.

Q.5 What is sign in & out?
A.5 There is a daily sign-in and sign-out procedure at every Trans-Atlantic camp. To pick up your child at 12 noon/3pm each day, you will need to meet your child’s coach and sign your child out. Let your child’s coach know if there will be somebody else collecting your child.

Q.6 How are the groups split?
A.6. We split up the groups by age and ability. Groups are flexible to ensure children are being coached at the right level.

Q.7 Both my kids are at camp, can they be in the same group?
A.7 Yes. If they are close enough in age, it should not be a problem. Please let the Camp Director know before the camp starts.

Q.8 Can I take my child early from camp?
A.8 Yes. Please let our camp director know in the morning when you sign your child in. Before you take your child, please go to our Camp Director to have your child signed out early.

Q.9 What does my child receive at camp?
A.9 Your child will receive a free soccer ball and a Trans-Atlantic Soccer T-shirt. On Friday, the Camp Director will hand out a Certificate of Completion to each camper, which will include a Coaches’ evaluation, so every player knows just how much they have achieved, and what they can work on to improve even further.

Q.10 What is ‘Battle of the Clans’?
A.10 As well as being split up into age-groups at the beginning of each week, players are also assigned to a ‘Clan’. At break time each day, we have a ‘Battle of the Clans’ challenge, whereby children from each Clan, as well as their Clan-leader (one of the Coaches), compete in Highland Games-themed contests to win points for their Clan. This is great fun and players, coaches and parents will do everything they can to gain the points that will see their Clan lift the ’TAS Clan Cup’.

Q.11 What is ‘Coaches versus Kids’?
A.11 At the end of each day, children are selected by each coach to compete against the team of coaches in a competition related to the soccer theme of that day (e.g shooting or dribbling). On the last day of camp every child has the opportunity to showcase their skills against the coaches in a challenge match. Points are totalled up each day with a winner being announced at the end of camp on Friday. Competition is fierce as the losers get soaked in the end of camp water-fight!

Q.12 What should I do if my child is on medication or has a medical condition?
A.12 Please inform our Camp Director of any medical needs or conditions that your child has after the parent speech and ensure we have all emergency contact details and medications that your child requires.
